This course introduces the most popular networking software of all time -- Novell Netware. This course explores the origins of Netware through Netware 4.0 and then back to the latest version - 3.12. Netware 3.12 is the basis for the implementation portion of this course. The functional capabilities and components of Netware 3.11, Netware 3.12, Netware 4.0, and Personal Netware will be examine with regard to differentiating factors and applicability to specific scenarios. A walkthrough of a Netware 3.12 installation is performed including the processes necessary to establish Netware server volumes, printers, user Id's, security, and directories in a step-by-step scenario. This walkthrough is targeted to establish a working client system and server system functioning on a Local Area Network. In a separate topic called Setting up your own LAN, Novell Personal Netware is compared to Microsoft WorkGroups for Windows as a solution for small WorkGroups.
